Sophie Medhurst Artist
I paint in oils and acrylics. I return again and again to the same landscapes. Going back to the land and capturing the sense of wellbeing it brings.
You'll find the marks of the palette knife and brushstrokes, the thinness or thickness of the paint are very apparent in my paintings. They are very tactile like the earth and nature I'm depicting.
Each painting is about our relationship with the land and places where we are in harmony with it. There's the fragile beauty of fleeting seasons and the passing light set against the enduring patterns of ancient routes or the colour of the soil.
I'll be at Cranbrook Art Show in the historic Vestry Hall from 5th to 7th November 2026! I'm also delighted to be featured in the September 2026 issue of Kent Life magazine as part of their Local Legends section.
